August Bank Holiday Weekend 2021

Saturday!

📍Ewes Water Caravan Park Langholm 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 – Open April to end September

Private site accommodating 24 pitches, for motorhomes/campervans, caravans or tents with grass pitches, electric hook-up, toilet and shower facilities, washing up area, laundry area, chemical disposal point, bar on site, drinking water.

One warden, a very friendly gentleman with a dog, extreamly helpful and chatty.

The site is part of the Rugby Club at Langholm and is a lovely, small, quiet (old bridge on entrance which is quite loud when cars drive over, but not much traffic flow as access to the site and Rugby Club only), basic site.
We stayed on here for one night on Saturday as Karl had a rugby match, very handy!
We hadn’t booked but we were very lucky as the site had a few vacancies.
There is a lovely wooded area surrounding the site as well as the rugby pitch with grassed areas around the edges.
The site is dog and child friendly, however there isn’t a dog walk or a play park on the site.
It is a 15 minute walk into Langholm, through a field and housing area and brings you straight to the play park by the river.

I would recommend this site for a one or two night stop over. Since we only stayed there for a night I not sure what there is to do around the area, but there did look like there we’re a few walks to do.

Sunday!

📍We did a wild camp on Sunday night slightly east from Honister Slate Mine. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

A nice quiet spot next to a little river which was nice for Archie and Leila to paddle in. We got there quite late so the first thing we did was get Archie his tea and then had ours, we used the Cadac BBQ which was the first time we used it. I must say we were very impressed and Karl was super happy with the way it cooked the burgers and sausage.

In the morning we used the Ridge Monkey for breakfast, again very impressed with the way it cooked the food, especially the speed, it was very quick!

We had a little stroll in the morning up onto the coast to coast path and looped back down to the van. Archie decided he wanted to walk so what would have probably been a quick 15 minute stroll took us around half and hour with his little legs!
